Agreement to Terms

By accessing or using So Surprised, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using this platform.

Platform Description

So Surprised is a marketplace connecting customers with sellers who provide surprise experiences, curated gift boxes, and character visits. We facilitate bookings and payments but do not directly provide the experiences.

For Customers

Booking Process

  • All bookings are subject to seller availability and confirmation
  • A booking is created only once payment is completed; your time slot is held briefly during checkout and released automatically if payment is not finished
  • You must provide accurate recipient information
  • Changes to bookings must be requested at least 48 hours in advance

Taxes

Prices shown on listings do not include sales tax. Applicable Canadian sales taxes (GST/HST and, where applicable, provincial sales tax) are calculated based on the delivery or service province and are shown at checkout before you pay. Taxes also apply to approved additional charges. Your receipt and invoice itemize the taxes collected, and refunds include the proportional tax on the refunded amount.

Additional Charges

A seller may request an additional charge for extra services or costs related to your booking (for example, added time or materials). Any such charge is shown to you for review and is only charged after you approve it — nothing extra is charged to your payment method without your consent. If you decline a requested charge, the seller may ask So Surprised to review it; we may approve and process a reviewed charge where it is fair and consistent with the service provided. Approved additional charges are subject to the same cancellation and refund terms as the original booking.

Saved Payment Methods

To make approving future or additional charges easier, your card may be securely stored by our payment processor (Stripe) and reused only for charges you approve. So Surprised never stores your full card details. You can manage saved cards from your dashboard.

Location Search

Distances and "near me" results are estimates based on approximate coordinates and are provided for convenience only. A listing appearing in a location search does not guarantee availability at your address — service coverage, travel, and delivery are always confirmed by the seller. Sharing your device location is optional; you can also search by typing a city or address.

See our Cancellation Policy for full details. Refunds are processed according to the policy in effect at the time of booking.

For Sellers

Commission and Payments

  • Platform commission is 15% of each booking
  • Sellers receive 85% of the booking value
  • Payments are released 2-3 business days after completion
  • All payments are processed via Stripe Connect

Taxes and Tax Reporting

  • Sellers are independent businesses and are responsible for their own tax obligations, including registering for, collecting, and remitting GST/HST where required
  • Sellers who are registered for GST/HST must provide their registration number in their profile so it can appear on customer receipts and invoices
  • Where applicable, GST/HST may be charged on the platform commission and deducted from seller payouts, as reflected in your earnings statements
  • Where required by Canadian law, So Surprised may report seller identification and earnings information to the Canada Revenue Agency, including under the reporting rules for digital platform operators
  • Tax summaries available in your seller dashboard are provided for convenience and do not constitute tax advice — consult a tax professional for your filing obligations

Service Location & Coverage

  • Sellers must provide an accurate business/origin address and a realistic service radius so location matching reflects where they actually operate
  • Your precise address is used only for distance and service-area matching; customers only see your city and province, never your exact address
  • Sellers are responsible for honouring the coverage area they configure and for confirming they can fulfil bookings that arrive through location search

Prohibited Activities

Users may not:

  • Engage in fraudulent or deceptive practices
  • Circumvent platform fees or payment processing
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse other users
  • Post false or misleading content
  • Violate intellectual property rights
